Those who know me well will know that I enjoy photo walking whenever I get the chance. This doesn’t happen as often as i’d like so I tend to make the most of the photo walks on offer during my off days or the winter. One photo walk I did manage to go on was one to photograph Art Deco Buildings on the East Rand and as luck would have it this led to me entering images in the Johannesburg Heritage Exhibition that was held recently. This turn of events turned into a very lucky occasion with my image being chosen as the Exhibition Winner and earning me a two night stay at Welgelegen Manor.
A little about Welgelegen Manor which is situated near Balfour in Mphumalanga. It’s so close to Jozi that it makes for an ideal escape from the rat race. Close enough to be easy to access yet far enough to feel that you’ve truly left the city far far behind you. I have to say the the two nights I was there I was pampered and spoiled and was able to relax and unwind and leave feeling as though I’d had a long holiday. A very big thank you must go to Connie, Macgda, Michael and chef Adriaan for making my stay so welcoming and relaxing. They sure know how to make guests feel welcome and at home. So if you’re looking for a fantastic escape from the city head to Welgelegen Manor and unwind in their tranquil gardens while being pampered in total luxury. Excellent meals to wonderful wine matched to the meals and full silver service dining, to beautiful suites with crisp linen and slippers by your bedside and on tap filter coffee in your room and beautiful gardens and grounds where you can relax or take a stroll amongst the duikers grazing. For the more energetic the pool is long enough to swim laps or you can opt for a round or lawn tennis, croquet or some archery. I hope you will enjoy the images that follow this blog showing a little of what my stay was like.
Please note I was not asked to write this blog, nor was I paid to write this blog, It is entirely of my choice to have blogged about my prize and the location.
