Im so excited to share this blog. Ive never before done a blog on Photography equipment let alone been lucky enough to be part of a shoot testing equipment. When Leanne from CameraStuff invited photographers to join her testing the new lights that CameraStuff are selling I jumped at the opportunity to learn more about using studio lights and flashes in the field.
Well I must say If it’s possible to fall in love with a light I have fallen in love with the Cononmark B4 Portable studio light. This baby is hardworking with fantastic output. What I really love it that the battery for the light fits on top of the light so there’s no cables between the light and batteries, no lugging separate battery packs and lights. It’s an all in one unit and you can carry a spare battery in your camera bag so no worries about running out of light power. Estimated shots are 300 at full power from this 400w Unit.
Everything is controlled from your camera with the little unit that attaches to your hot shoe mount. The flash takes a variety of softboxes and umbrellas so is very versatile in providing the type of lighting you need for the situation you are using it. This is a really great value buy for the budget conscious photographer looking for excellent quality light to use on their shoots.
While I liked the images that I got using Available light, Off Camera Flash set to High Speed Sync (HSS) I have to say that the images I got using the B4 are my favourites. Each have their merits and uses and for the purpose of this test the B4 showed it’s value as far as I’m concerned.
