Roadtripping and Revisiting Val

This post follows on from my Post about Welgelegn Manor. Whilst staying at Welgelegen I had the opportunity to go back to places Ive been before but this time experience them with my Mum who has dreamed for many years of visiting Val. So it just made sense to head there as we were so close by. My intention in going back to Val was to explore parts that I’d not seen on my previous visit and possibly revisit some of the places I had seen for a few more images. Val is one of those off the beaten track kind of places which seems to be rather like sleepy hollow until you explore and find the people living there and hear their stories and learn what it is that makes Val tick. It does tick but on a very slow time rather like that of times gone buy. Val is all about times gone by and the people that passed through Val leaving their mark on this little place. Would I go back to Val yes I still want to stay in the little hotel there and perhaps if I’m lucky shoot a wedding there as I think it could be rather fun. The images that follow are a few from the road trip to and from Val as well as little of new spots that I did not see on my last visit.

Wonderful photos and a great bit of writing. It was a special day of walking back into a place which, as you say, ticks along slowly. The Nguni Beauty really made my day but I loved all the photos.
